It is one of the most distinctive aircraft in military history: the Boeing E-3A Sentry, better known as AWACS. With its huge, rotating radar on the fuselage, it is the flying command center of NATO and the US Air Force. The construction of the E-3A is fascinating because it is based on the classic Boeing 707, but the military additions give it a completely unique character.
