Dingo 2 is a development of Dingo 1, named after a wild dog. The vehicle was designed by KraussMaffei-Wegmann. Dingo 2 MRAP is based on the upgraded Unimog U5000 chassis, with upgraded protection and increased load capacity compared to the first generation. Dingo 2 has two wheelbases, long and short. The vehicle adopts a modular design and can carry 4 to 7 people depending on the wheelbase. The vehicle is powered by a diesel engine with a power of 215 hp. It is equipped with a central air filling and deflation system. The vehicle bottom is armored with V-shaped armor, and the crew compartment is also armored. The Dingo 2 can protect against mine shock waves, small arms and artillery shell fragments. The vehicle body can be replaced with different additional armor to improve the protection level. The Dingo 2 is also equipped with a nuclear, biological and chemical protection system. The vehicle uses a top-mounted remote-controlled weapon station, which can be equipped with a 7.62mm, 12.7mm machine gun or a 40mm automatic grenade launcher. The same weapon station is also used on the "Little Fox" armored reconnaissance vehicle.
